The current Kansas City Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards has one way out of the situation he is in and that is a vacant coaching job at San Diego State. For some reason, speculators attribute these rumors to how the Chiefs are performing in their 2008 season. But Edwards denies anything related to these rumors saying that he might as well coach the Chiefs which is similar to coaching a college team at that.
It might be his third year as coach for the Chiefs but he is thought to consider leaving because the Chiefs owner Clark Hunt is getting tired and losing patience with his coaching staff who continues giving him a bad performance since 2007. The team owner's stand though is questionable because he refuses to reveal anything to the media. Avoiding controversies perhaps. But every time he does grant a public conference, he expresses support for Coach Edward and his staff.
The 2008 season is the worst season for the Chiefs since it was first established as a franchise by Lamar Hunt in 1960. There were a lot of mistakes committed in a majority of their games. And the fans are losing interest too. They have grown impatient and angry with how their team is playing. This is evident with the presence of empty seats in the Arrowhead stadium which reaches thousands in number.
People continue to blame the Kansas City Chiefs' president and general manager Carl Peterson for the losses that
the Chiefs are facing. Yet a good number of these losses are also attributed to coach Edwards when he was hired after the 2005 season. However, the Chiefs performance is largely due to the fact that they are the youngest team in the NFL and a lot of mistakes of the youth were expected. The team also faced an injury epidemic which contributed to misery.
The Chiefs team experienced two of their victories in 1977 and performed at their worst in a non-strike 16-game season with a 4-12 record. Currently, the Chiefs do have a good chance in winning their games but because of some faulty plays they fail to do so. The team has the worst pass rush since the NFL began.
Head coach Edwards continue deny any rumors associated with possible career changes. Instead, he plans to rebuild the team and improve their performance so that they will bear fruit in the end. Coach Edward is focusing on certain members of his team to develop fully. Even if they have very young players, they recognize the talents and capabilities that each one has. They have very good players who are getting even better as the days go by.
It is really tough for the Kansas City Chiefs to perform well with such a new team. All of them realize that they have to trudge forward despite the difficulties they are facing. Yet with their youth, they are more than willing to battle all the challenges that are given to them each time they play against a different team in the field. Give them a few more years to turn into a well-loved football team.
