Obesity is unexcusable. Perhaps the fact much of the world is in an economic crisis will make people think twice when they reach into their wallets to spend money on food.
Recently, I watched a video clip of an overweight child where the child was five years old and weighed four hundred pounds! There is no reason or excuse for a child weighing that much! For some parents (not all), their children are overweight simply because their parents feed them improperly. Some parents feed their children as a means of keeping them quiet while others feed their children junk food simply because it is what they eat. All of this begs the question: are overweight parents more prone to have overweight children? It seems to be that way. After all, if a parent is obese, chances are that they can't move around as quickly as a parent who is slim.
Additionally, people who are obese tend to have other medical issues (usually as a direct result of the additional weight). For instance, many people who are overweight also have diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. As a result, these people are unable to run after their young children as someone who doesn't have the additional weight might be able to. Now, this is hardly to say that all people who are obese are obese because of their own doing, nor is it the case to say that all obese parents have obese children.
There are some people who are obese or who have additional weight gain because of some other mitigating factor such as a preexisting medical condition. The vast majority though, are obese due to a lack of self control and, in many cases, due to low self-esteem. When you are stressed out about something, how do you alleviate your stress? For some, relieving stress may take the form of drawing, writing poetry, reading, exercising or simply spending time with a close friend or family member. However, there are those who turn to eating, drugs and/or alcohol as a way to “solve” their problems. This is not the right answer.
Many overweight people are so because of their poor diet choice. Someone who is extremely busy and doesn't make the time to cook or who who is rushed at the end of the day may opt instead to stop at a fast food restaurant or rely more on microwave meals (which are usually extremely high in sodium). If you know that you have an extremely busy lifestyle, you need to make eating right something that is important to you, because if it is important enough to you, you'll make the time to do it. That being said, even if you simply don't have the time to cook, there are still healthier meal choices to go when you stop at a fast food restaurant or the grocery store. Make wise choices when it comes to food, and you (and your body) won't regret it in the long run.
